AGRO Merchants Group has announced the addition of The Sawyers Group (Sawyers) located in Northern Ireland to its portfolio. The transaction also includes a number of Sawyers subsidiaries and JVs, which now become fully part of AGRO Merchants Group. This latest partnership with Sawyers will increase the range of solutions, commodity expertise and locations within AGRO Merchants Group. Sawyers specializes in the temperature controlled logistics sector where it provides a comprehensive range of transport, warehousing and distribution services throughout Ireland, the UK and Europe.

Latest acquisition adds significant scale and capabilities to AGRO Merchants’ expanding U.S. and global cold chain distribution network.

ATLANTA, GA, USA, October 2, 2015.

AGRO Merchants Group announced the addition of Nordic Logistics and Warehousing, LLC, located in Atlanta to its portfolio. The company’s latest partnership with Nordic meaningfully expands its North American footprint and value-added service offerings, and adds Savannah as another key U.S. port of entry/exit or its global customers. The deal will add a total of 12 facilities, 70 million cubic feet of refrigerated and frozen space, and 218,000 pallet positions to the AGRO network – making it the 5th largest global 3rd party temperature-controlled provider.

Castlecool achieves Gold Standard in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Award 2013

Castlecool has been named as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme for the fourth year in a row. The company was recognised at a gala awards dinner in the Burlington Hotel in Dublin on 1 March 2013. Former Taoiseach and Chairman of IFSC Ireland, John Bruton, was special guest speaker at the event.

Castlecool has requalified as one of Ireland’s ‘Best Managed’ companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme. Castlecool was first recognised as a Best Managed Company in 2009. The company, which demonstrated superior business performance for a fifth year running, was recognised at an awards gala dinner in Dublin on 7 March 2014. This is Castlecool’s second year as a Deloitte Gold Standard company, a first in the industry.

Castlecool Sponsor Local Triathlon

Castlecool were the proud sponsor of the sprint triathlon at this years Muckno Mania Festival. The festival, which is in its 15th year, takes place in Castleblayney every July and the triathlon has become a popular event over the weekend.

 The triathlon began with a 750m swim around Lough Muckno, an 18km cycle and concluded with a 5km run around the Black Island Forest Park. The event attracted a large crowd of spectators, both local and from further afield.

The below interview with Castlecool MD and founder, Paul Shortt, appeared in the Sunday Times in July of 2010.

Paul Shortt does not say ‘it is not enough to succeed, others must fail’. But if he did, you’d understand it.

The 62 year old founder of Castlecool, the country’s largest independent temperature controlled and logistics company, didn’t start out to be an entrepreneur.

Instead, the Monaghan native trained as an accountant with Craig Gardiner, now PriceWaterhouse Coopers, and, in 1975, got a job as an accountant with the co-op Lough Egish, itself now part of Lakeland Dairies.
